Many contemporary photographers are returning to black & white portraiture for its expressiveness, but Sarah Kjelleren seems more skilled than most. The young American photographer is originally from Vermont and currently NYC based. She specializes in portraits, but the scope of her work is as broad as street photography, fine art shoots and commercial work. She is the recipient of the 1st Place award in the Skills USA VT Photography Competition 2010, and, otherwise, her work speaks loud and clear about her skills. She captures her subject with a clarity and honesty difficult to replicate. Her main focus is vulnerability and sexuality (see her series of nudes, in which the interplay of light creates spectacular effects). Browse her gallery and make sure to follow her blog-cum-photo diary – she definitely is one to watch out for!
